How To Reach Reggio Calabria

By Plane

The  Italian national operator Alitalia announced that per 27 March, 2017 they will stop all flight operations from Reggio Calabria to Rome Fiumicino, Milan Linate and Turin airports. As Alitalia "remains available to discuss with the relevant authorities any new scenario and measures to be implemented immediately in order to restore sustainable services to and from Reggio Calabria airport”,we suggest, that all participants should delay booking flights to Reggio Calabria.

The second-closest airport (126 km from Reggio Calabria) is Lamezia Terme International Airport. Besides Alitalia, many other airlines operate with both domestic and foreign connections at this airport. Alitalia is flying 4 times a day from Rome to Lamezia.

The ARES Conference will organize a cheap shuttle service, covering most flight (arrival/departure) times from and to Lamezia Airoporto every day from Monday, August 28 to Saturday, September 2, 2017 between Lamezia and Reggio di Calabria. The detailed time table and booking information will follow soon.

Alternative: Reggio Calabria can be reached from Lamezia Terme by car (Highway A3 Salerno-Reggio Calabria) or by train to the station "Reggio di Calabria Centrale" (it takes approximtiely 1,5 hours).

Concerning TRENITALIA trains, the summer time-table is not yet available. Anyway, we remark that the Airport of Reggio Calabria is served from Rome Fiumicino also by the operator Blue Panorama – Blue Express Airlines.

By Train

The central station of Reggio Calabria is the main railway station of the city. Visit the official site for information about the routes and timetables. Among other, there are many high-speed connections from and to Rome.
